Why should we buy local farm produce and how is that better than buying it at the grocery store? Does it make a difference where you pick your veggies, as long as you keep eating them? We know that eating fresh produce is essential to sustain a healthy lifestyle, especially now more than ever. There is one simple thing you can change in your day-to-day life that will ultimately have a huge impact. That is buying local produce.
Buying local produce is fresher and you are bringing home ripe produce. Shopping for vegetables at the farmer's market, for example, ensures you are buying greens harvested recently. Compared to grocery store produce that has had a long journey from the harvest to the shelf, essentially losing most of its nutrients, local produce is packed with nutrients. The veggies we pick at our USDA-certified farm have all the nutritional value still intact when they are sold at the market.

Not only that but purchasing local produce is also contributing to your community and supporting your local farmers. Eating fresh and local also helps the environment by reducing your carbon footprint! Fewer trips to the store for you and a short journey from the farm to the market for us. Every little change makes a difference! HPF offers a fantastic variety and selection of veggies and herbs. We will be at the Farmers Market in Wheaton and St Charles this year (2025).
In conclusion, we are grateful to have a community that really sees and supports the work we do as an organic vegetable farm in Chicagoland. Anything we do from our farm-to-table dinners, to plant sales, our online market, and pizza nights is done with love for growth, nutrition, and giving back to the community.
Come for the upcoming HPF plant sale, where we will have a lot of variety in different transplants. There is one in spring and two in summertime. This will be held at 2N308 Brundige Rd, Elburn IL, 60119.The dates are:
April 19th 9 AM to 2 PM
May 10th 9 AM to 2 PM
